These are my people, but also yours. We are all joined by one story, stretching forever into the future, always in the past. I’ve interviewed hundreds of people over the years, and almost without exception (the exceptions being very pronounced) they’ve said something along the lines of, “I don’t know why you are talking to me – I don’t have anything interesting to say.” And after that, almost all have revealed great depth and character, and a story to rival the best fiction. I love to listen to people’s truths. I built this site so you too could hear their voices. New voices will be added each day. I’m a writer who lives in New York. I’m happy for the world. The realist sans-serif typeface used here is called DIN Next, by Linotype. Based on the classic DIN 1451 Mittelschrift, DIN Next was created by Akira Kobayashi. The acronym stands for Deutches Institut für Normung (German Institute for Standardization). Kobayashi updated the classic typeface to make it work well in modern media.
The portraits were taken with a Sony DSC RX-100 with a Carl Zeiss lense. This camera is a blessing.
