I think you’ll love your trip through Michigan and especially the UP. While driving through the UP, watch for bear and deer on and off the road and ticks in the woods. You may get bit by tiny annoying things, called no-see-ums. When I last read some news about the UP—I’m interested because I used to work there, in the Youth Conservation Corps, at the Ford Forestry Center, one fabulous summer, with diverse youth from across MI, and have 2 great friends and great memories from it 40+ years later—the regional medical facilities are strained due to COVID. COVID cases are increasing. I’m sure you keep dialed in to the local news, since you’re also in the reporting and article writing business.
