I've noticed that sleeping patterns change a great deal as I age. There is the 3am waking cycle that most people my age and older experience. Wide awake and ready to go at 3am. That's when I write. Eventually I tire out and go back to sleep again. My schedule is flexible enough that I can do this without ruining my life. Sometimes I stay awake and get all my chores out of the way, have a nice walk then crawl back in bed for a long afternoon nap. Again , a very common feature of life over 60. My anxiety goes down when I go for walks, eat well, practice tai'chi and write.

All that you describe is familiar to me, also! I often wrote at 3 am. Although I’d rather sleep through.
